TRAN LUU HAU

 

1928:              Born in Ninh Binh.

 

1945:              Participated in the Viet Minh Movement in the Hanoi suburb district of CauGiay.

 

                        Member of the Civil Defence unit of the Hanoi suburb district of Dong Da.

 

1946:              Worked in the Information and Propaganda Service  located in Vinh Yen.

1949 - 1953: Studied and graduated from The Resistance Fine Arts Course – Viet Bac Fine

 

                        Arts School ( Hanoi  University of Fine Arts  during the war ).

 

1953 – 1954 Participated in Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Created   illustrated and Military Paintings,

 

                        Propaganda Posters to encourage guerilla  and armed- force …  in the  Campaign.

 

1954 -1955:  Participated  in the hand – over of authority in Nam Dinh, Son Tay and  Hanoi.

 

1955 - 1962: Studied and graduated from Surikov Institute of Fine Arts, Moscow, USSR.

 

1962 - 1989: Professor – lecturer  at  Hanoi University of Fine Arts.

 

1963:              Field trip to Thu Thi Hamlet, Hung Yen Province. Created a number of landscape

                        depicting Thu Thi Hamlet.

 

1964:             Field trip to Quang Ninh, Hon Gai Coal mine. Created a number of landscape

                       depicting Ha long Bay and Deo Nai coal mine.

 

1965:             The Americans escalated bombings in the North of Vietnam. Field trip to  sketche

                       fishermen – Civil Defence in  Cua Nhuong, Nghe An Province.

 

1966:             Painted  members of Territorial Army in Nhat Le, Dong Hoi, Quang Binh ( 3 months).

1982 – 1985:Created two major artworks:

 

                       “The soldiers return to Mountainous Hamlet “ and  “ H’ Mong  Embroiderers”.

 

1985 -1990: Stage designer for a number of famous dramas: “ Intrigue and Love “,“ The Fox and

                       Grapes “, “ Leader of my platoon”, “ Nguyen Trai in Dong Quan”, “ The Market of Life”,

                       “The Miser”.

 

1983 - 1994:Member of Executive Committee of Vietnam Fine Arts Association  -  Section II & III.

 

1990- 2000: Chairman of Vietnam Fine Arts Council – Vietnam Fine Arts Association .
